Welcome to foodieandthedrink !

Hi! my name is Dani Garcia, food-lover, cooking enthusiast and the person behind Foodie and the Drink.

Food has always been at the center of my family life. Growing up I was always excited about food. I was curious about recipes and I was always asking my mom or my grandma what ingredients they used, how they mixed them altogether, etc. But the most fascinating aspect for me was the transformation process of simple ingredients with varied flavors mixed together turning into a flavorful “home-cooked” meal that brought our family together every weekend. What a joy!
Later, my interest in cooking grew to the point I seriously considered becoming a Chef. The highlights were a couple of classes I took at the Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. But life had other plans for me. I went onto graduate college, got married, started a family and became a stay-at-home mom, and as you can imagine, food in our family is front and center!
However, I never lost interest in “all-things-cooking”. It all came back together when due to my husband’s work we had the opportunity to relocate to Paris, France during the fall of 2010. The Parisian food scene features endless opportunities to experiment different flavors, textures, and a mix of different dishes from all around the world all in one place. You can find great Indian, Moroccan, Asian, Spanish tapas, Italian, Greek, Lebanese etc, and of course high end French cuisine… And let’s not forget wine!
Blending together all these experiences enriched my understanding of food and gave me a chance to experiment and develop my own style of cooking. So, I decided to create “Foodie and the Drink” to feature some of the recipes I use at home that are easy to make and are also cooked in a healthy way.
Also, one of the things I enjoy the most is going out to eat! So, you will also see my posts sharing reviews on restaurants we visit as well as take-out! So much good cooking to go around!
In short, “Foodie and the Drink” was born out of the love for food (and drink!!), simple as that! I hope you enjoy making some of the recipes as much as I enjoyed making (and eating them!) Cheers and Bon Appétit!

Food As Community

Food has a special ability to bring people together. I often find this in my own life, and I hope you will find that this online community feels just as welcoming as a real kitchen. For me, cooking together builds the best communities! Let’s get cooking together!

Step-By-Step Cooking

I have been cooking for a long time, but that doesn’t mean that you need a ton of cooking experience to follow my recipes. I work to make my recipes interesting for advanced cooks and still accessible for beginners. If you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask by sending a message or posting a comment.
